Job Description: The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) has a requirement for technical and engineering support in the systems engineering, integration, maintenance, documentation, and development and operation of training simulations. SimIS seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician to provide advanced technical maintenance support for complex shore-based training simulator systems and associated equipment. This position requires expertise in both corrective and preventive maintenance of naval combat systems, networking equipment, and specialized training devices to ensure maximum system availability and reliability.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or Associate's degree preferred
Minimum 6-8 years of experience in electronics maintenance, preferably military systems
Advanced knowledge of digital electronics, computer systems, and network equipment
Experience with AEGIS combat systems maintenance and troubleshooting
Fiber Optic Installer certification (required within 6 months of hire)
DoD 8140 System Administrator certification desirable
Preferred: Military electronics training, manufacturer-specific certifications
Travel required: 25%
Technical Skills:
Expert knowledge of SPY radar systems, AEGIS computers, and fire control systems maintenance
Proficiency in fiber optic installation, testing, and repair
Advanced troubleshooting skills for complex electronic systems and networks
Experience with tactical computer systems, switching equipment, and display systems
Knowledge of COTS and LAN-based system administration
Understanding of test equipment operation and calibration procedures
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Attention to detail and systematic approach to maintenance procedures
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Key Responsibilities
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on SPY radar systems, AEGIS computers, and fire control systems
Conduct fiber optic cable installation, testing, and repair in accordance with NAVSEA and NAVAIR standards
Maintain tactical computers, switching systems, and display equipment groups
Provide system administration support for COTS and LAN-based systems
Troubleshoot complex system integration issues and network connectivity problems
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Support system readiness for joint service exercises and training events
Coordinate with logistics personnel for parts procurement and inventory management
Mentor junior technicians and provide technical training
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintenance standards
